As the NMR Facility Manager I primarily utilize nuclear magnetic
resonance (NMR) to characterize the three dimensional structure,
function and dynamics of proteins from a wide range of biological
systems. Research in our laboratory has focused in the past on enzymes
involved in DNA repair, specifically the base excision repair pathway.
More recently several collaborative projects have been initiated
studying proteins involved in bacterial cell division, neurite
outgrowth, dynein motor complexes, and others. Much future work involve
studying several insecticidal neurotoxins from the African funnel web
spider with potential to be used in insect control in collaboration with
Dr. Glenn King.
