Dr. Laurinda JaffeeLaurinda A. Jaffe
Professor of Cell Biology
ljaffe@neuron.uchc.edu

Areas of Interest:
My research concerns the cell biology of fertilization, and the regulation of meiosis in oocytes. Questions of interest include how the sperm activates the egg to begin development, and how the oocyte matures to become a fertilization-competent egg. Currently we are investigating the role of a G-protein-linked receptor, GPR3, in the maintenance of meiotic prophase arrest in follicle-enclosed mouse oocytes.
